For the last 10 years, DreamWakers has fostered inspiring career connections, closing the opportunity gap for students in under-resourced communities across the U.S. Since we first set out on our mission to help students see what they can be, DreamWakers has connected classrooms across 47 states and DC with inspiring role models. Together, we have exposed more than 50,000 students to new careers through more than 100,000 minutes of meaningful, future-focused conversations, with 83% of students learning about a new career in each flashchat.
Since 2014, DreamWakers’ ultimate aim has been to inspire students to dream big for their futures no matter their zip code, harnessing the power and eagerness of career role models to share what they have learned and experienced with the next generation. To further scale our impact and deliver on this mission, our community and flashchat programming will be joining the innovative, impactful work at Backrs.
Backrs has developed a social platform that connects students who need advice, opportunities, and funds with adults who can share these resources. Featuring a robust suite of relationship-building, goal tracking, and investing tools, Backrs makes it convenient and rewarding for busy professionals to empower young people to flourish.
This transition will enable DreamWakers students across the U.S. to:
- Tap into a robust suite of resources, including a nationwide community of professionals representing 70+ career paths who have a wealth of knowledge, insight, and experiences to share. Grow their networks, seek out industry-specific career advice, and cultivate interpersonal/professional skills through an innovative social platform.
- Build the social and financial capital they need to flourish, leading to raised aspirations, informed decisions, enriching experiences, and financial margin.
