The Strategic Advantage of a Multi-Semester View

This calculator isn't just for one semester—it's designed to be your academic companion throughout your entire college journey.

    • Track Your Trajectory: By organizing by semester, you can easily see if your GPA is trending upward, which is a key factor that admissions committees for graduate programs look for.
    • Plan for the Future: Add future semesters with planned courses and target grades to see how you can reach your desired cumulative GPA by graduation.
    • Stay Organized: Keep all your academic data in one place. The calculator saves your progress in your browser, so you can update it semester after semester.

    What is Weighted GPA?

Weighted GPA gives extra value to more difficult classes. Our tool adds a bonus to your grade points for Honors (+0.5) and AP/IB (+1.0) courses, providing a more accurate reflection of your academic rigor—a crucial metric for college applications.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Get quick answers to common questions about calculating your GPA with our tool.

How are letter grades converted to points?

    Our calculator uses the most common 4.0 scale: A/A+ = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B- = 2.7, and so on. This is the standard used by most US colleges and universities.

What if I reset a semester?

The "Reset Semester" button provides a user-friendly way to clear the data for the currently active semester. It will clear all course names, credits, and grades within that tab but will not delete the rows themselves. This allows you to quickly enter new data without having to re-add all the course rows.

Why are there two GPA values in the results?

We display both the Unweighted GPA (the main large number) and the Weighted GPA. The unweighted GPA is your average on a standard 4.0 scale. The weighted GPA gives you an academic boost for taking more challenging classes like Honors or AP, providing a more nuanced view of your performance.
